The stadium hosted three football matches for the 2007 Copa América. The national football team of Colombia won the first match against the United States. The Argentine Republic won the second match against Paraguay 1-0 and third match against Peru 4-0. The national football team of the Argentine Republic played in the inaugural FIFA World Cup final in 1930. Uruguay won the game, which took place in Uruguay.
