The stadium is also known as a venue for athletics, concerts and rugby sevens. It was one of the eight FIFA U-20 World Cup venues in 2011. 35,000 people attended the first match of the tournament at the Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero. The game between Cameroon and New Zealand ended in a 1-1 draw. América de Cali, Atlético FC and CDABJ use the stadium for home games. América de Cali won the Colombian top-flight football league various times. The club became one of the first Colombian sports clubs with 1 million followers on its main social media page.
