Extra stadium info – Estadio Nemesio Camacho

The venue opened with a football match between Colombia and Ecuador. The visitors won the game. The stadium hosted the 2001 Copa América final, which was won by the national football team of Colombia after defeating the United Mexican States 1-0. Iván Ramiro Córdoba Sepúlveda scored the only goal of the match. The Colombian defender played hundreds of matches for the world famous Italian football club Internazionale. Millonarios Fútbol Club have been tenants of the Estadio Nemesio Camacho since 1938 and Independiente Santa Fe have been tenants of the venue since 1952. Both clubs won the Colombian top-flight football league various times. Millonarios Fútbol Club became one of the first Colombian sports clubs with 1 million followers on its main social media page.
