The venue is nicknamed Bezerrão. Brazil won the final of the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup at the Estádio Walmir Campelo Bezerra after defeating the United Mexican States, commonly known as Mexico. 13,000 spectators attended the game. The Mexican winger Bryan Alonso González Olivan scored the first goal in the final. Kaio Jorge Pinto Ramos and Lázaro Vinícius Marques both scored for Brazil in the final. Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas won the stadium’s inaugural match after beating SE Gama. The visitors scored three goals and the home side scored once in the opening game.
