The stadium was the main baseball venue for the Games of the Olympiad in 2000. The Western Sydney Wanderers, one of the tenants of the venue, became the third football club from Australia to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup. They became the second football club from New South Wales with 100,000 followers on their main social media page, after their arch-rivals Sydney Football Club. In 2005, Sydney FC became the first club from Sydney which won the Oceanian championship for football clubs.
