Tenants Houston Dynamo became the second football club from Texas with 100,000 followers on their main social media page, after their rivals FC Dallas. On 2 April 2006, the Houston Dynamo played their first-ever Major League Soccer match, which they won 5-2. They played against the Colorado Rapids in Houston with 25,000 people in attendance. The Houston Dynamo won the MLS Cup in their debut season. In 2014, they signed DaMarcus Beasley. He became the first football player from the United States who played in four FIFA World Cups. Beasley also became the first football player from the United States who played in a semi-final of the world famous UEFA Champions League, the European championship for football clubs. He lost the match with the Dutch side PSV from Eindhoven against the Italian side AC Milan.
