The construction costs of the stadium were $186 million. It is known as a venue for various events, like American football, baseball, basketball, boxing, Canadian football, concerts, football, ice hockey and wrestling. The Alamodome opened as one of the largest sports venues by capacity in Texas. The American football team of the UTSA Roadrunners use the stadium for home games. They played their first match at the Alamodome in 2011. 56,000 fans showed up for the game. The UTSA Roadrunners drew an average home attendance of 35,000 in their inaugural league season at the Alamodome.
