The construction of the Moda Center started in 1993 and its construction costs were $262 million. The arena was known as the Rose Garden Arena. It became a venue for several events, like basketball, box lacrosse, bull riding, conferences, concerts, figure skating, ice hockey, ice shows, indoor American football, indoor football, mixed martial arts, political events and wrestling. Several former sports clubs played home games at the Moda Center. The Portland Trail Blazers have been tenants of the venue since 1995. They played their first National Basketball Association match in 1970. In 1977, the Portland Trail Blazers won their first-ever NBA championship title after beating the Philadelphia 76ers from Pennsylvania.
