The construction of the stadium, which is known as the largest baseball stadium by capacity in Nebraska, started in 2009. Its construction costs were $131 million. The ballpark became a venue for the College World Series. On 13 June 2019, the Detroit Tigers and the Kansas City Royals played the first-ever Major League Baseball game in Nebraska at the stadium. The Royals won the game 7-3 in front of 25,000 spectators. The baseball team of the Creighton Bluejays use the TD Ameritrade Park Omaha for home games. They are members the highest division of college baseball in the United States. The Omaha Mammoths and the Omaha Nighthawks, two defunct American football teams, used the TD Ameritrade Park Omaha for home games. The Nighthawks folded in 2012 and the Mammoths folded in 2014.
