The Major League Baseball stadium has a retractable roof. It is known as a venue for several events, like American football, baseball, concerts and football. The stadium also became a venue for the Race of Champions, an international motorsport event featuring some of the best drivers in the world. In 2017, the Colombian driver Juan Pablo Montoya Roldán won the first edition at the Marlins Park. He became the CART Rookie of the Year, the Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year and the NASCAR Rookie of the Year. The Miami Marlins, formerly known as the Florida Marlins, have been tenants of the Marlins Park since it opened in 2012. They drew an average attendance of 27,000 in 81 home games in their first MLB season at the venue.
