Stadiums with a capacity of at least 80,000

Most of the stadiums with a capacity of at least 80,000 are used for football, the most popular sport in the world, and American football. A large part of the American football stadiums in the list with stadiums with a capacity of at least 80,000 are used by intercollegiate American football teams. Various members of the National Football League, the most valuable American football league in the world, also play home games at venues with a capacity of at least 80,000. Some sports venues have a capacity above 100,000. In several stadiums, human stampedes took place. The stampedes led to new safety regulations, which reduced the capacities of stadiums around the world. Numerous venues became all-seater stadiums after the new safety regulations.
