The BT Murrayfield Stadium is known as a venue for several events, like American football, concerts, football, rugby league and rugby union. Tenants Edinburgh Rugby were founded in 1872. In 1975, the stadium’s record attendance of 104,000 was set in a rugby union match between Scotland and Wales. In 1991, the venue hosted its first-ever Rugby World Cup match. The national rugby union team of Scotland won the game against Japan 47-9. The Scottish Claymores, a former American football club, used the venue for home games. They played their first match at the BT Murrayfield Stadium in 1995. The Claymores won the World Bowl in 1996 after beating the Frankfurt Galaxy, a former American football club from Germany. 38,000 people attended the match in Edinburgh. The Scottish Claymores American football club was dissolved in 2004.
