The stadium’s record attendance of 60,000 was set in a football match between Northern Ireland and England in 1960. Linfield Football Club are the tenants of the stadium. The club was founded in 1886 under a different name. In 2011, Linfield FC won the top-flight football league of Northern Ireland for the 50th time in their history. The venue is also used by the national football team of Northern Ireland. George Best is one of their former players.
