The venue, which opened as the Reebok Stadium, is located in Greater Manchester. The stadium opened with a Premier League match between the Bolton Wanderers and Everton. 23,000 people showed up for the game, which ended in a goalless draw. The Bolton Wanderers drew an average home attendance of 24,000 in their first Premier League season at the University of Bolton Stadium. The Bolton Wanderers football club became the first sports club from Bolton with 100,000 followers on its main social media page. The club was founded in 1874 under a different name. In 1923, they won the FA Cup for the first time in their history after beating West Ham United 2-0 in London. It was one of the first FA Cup finals with a crowd over 100,000.
