The construction costs of the venue were £71 million. Brentford FC and the London Irish both use the Gtech Community Stadium for home games. Brentford FC, nicknamed The Bees, was founded in 1889. The London Irish rugby union club, nicknamed The Exiles, was founded in 1898. Brentford FC played their inaugural match at the stadium on 1 September 2020. They drew the match against Oxford United 2-2. The Spanish winger Sergi Canós Tenés scored both goals for Brentford FC during that game. Brentford FC played their first-ever league game at the stadium on 19 September 2020, when they defeated Huddersfield Town 3-0. On 29 November 2020, the London Irish played their inaugural match at the Gtech Community Stadium. They defeated Leicester FC 22-9.
