The stadium is known as a venue for several events, like boxing, concerts, football, religious gatherings, rugby league and tennis. The famous Harlem Globetrotters, an exhibition basketball team, played at the Anfield Stadium in 1958. The world famous venue opened as the home of Everton Football Club. Soon after Everton moved to another stadium, Liverpool Football Club was founded. Liverpool FC became one of the first sports clubs with 10 million followers on its main social media page. Liverpool FC became the first club from the United Kingdom to win the European championship for football clubs five times. They won their fifth European championship title after defeating AC Milan from the Italian Republic in the 2005 UEFA Champions League final. 72,000 people showed up for the match, which took place in Istanbul. AC Milan reached the final after defeating PSV from Eindhoven and Liverpool FC reached the final after defeating Chelsea Football Club from London.

In 2019, Liverpool Football Club won their first-ever world championship title.
