Extra stadium info – Kaliningrad Stadium

The construction of the stadium started in 2015. On 16 June 2018, the venue hosted its first-ever FIFA World Cup match. The national football team of Croatia won the match against Nigeria 2-0. 31,000 people attended the game. The Croatians took the lead when Mario Mandžukić’s header from a corner was deflected into his own goal by Oghenekaro Etebo. Luka Modrić secured the win from the penalty spot after William Troost-Ekong fouled Mandžukić at a corner.
