The construction of the Stadio comunale Armando Picchi, which is also used for athletics, started in 1933. It opened with a football match. The venue is named after a former football player and manager who was born in Livorno. Armando Picchi played various matches for the national football team of the Italian Republic. He won the European championship for football clubs two times with FC Internazionale Milano in the 1960s.
