The venue is also sometimes used for rugby union. In 2020, the stadium hosted its first-ever Italian cup final. Juventus FC won the game after beating SSC Napoli 2-0. Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro scored the first goal of the match and Álvaro Borja Morata Martín scored the second goal of the match. Cristiano Ronaldo became the highest-paid athlete in the world.

Tenants

Associazione Calcio Reggiana and Unione Sportive Sassuolo use the stadium named MAPEI STADIUM – Città del Tricolore for home games. AC Reggiana was founded in 1919 and US Sassuolo was founded in 1920. Both clubs played numerous matches in the Italian top-flight football league. AC Reggiana played their first-ever Italian top-flight league match in the 20th century and US Sassuolo played their first-ever top-flight league match in the 21st century.
