The stadium’s record attendance was set in the 1960s, when 20,000 people showed up for a football match between STVV and RSC Anderlecht. STVV, nicknamed De Kanaries, use the Daio Wasabi Stayen Stadium for home matches. The club, one of the first Belgian sports clubs with a value of at least $10 million, was founded in 1924. STVV played their first-ever Belgian cup final in 1971. They lost the final, which took place in the city of Brussels in front of 37,000 spectators.
