The construction costs of the Wörthersee Stadion, which is named after the largest lake in Carinthia, were €66 million. It was one of the 2008 UEFA European Football Championship venues. The national football team of Germany won the first-ever UEFA European Football Championship match at the Wörthersee Stadion after beating Poland 2-0. 30,000 people attended the game. Croatia won the other two UEFA European Football Championship matches at the venue. The first one after winning 2-1 against Germany and the second one after winning 1-0 against Poland.
