The Rajamangala National Stadium is used for several events, like athletics, concerts, football and motorsport. The national football team of Thailand played numerous matches at the stadium. In 2007, 30,000 people showed up at the venue for its first AFC Asian Cup match. Its final AFC Asian Cup match in 2007 was a quarter-final between the national football teams of Iraq and Vietnam. Iraq won the tournament after beating Saudi Arabia 1-0. The first match of the Asian championship for national football teams in Thailand took place in 1972. Iran won that tournament. Korea finished second place and Thailand finished third place.
