The stadium, which became one of the 2017 FIFA U-17 FIFA World Cup venues, is also known as the Fatorda Stadium. The Churchill Brothers and FC Goa use the venue for home games. The Churchill Brothers became the second club from Goa with an Indian top-flight football league title. In 2014, the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium hosted the first-ever Indian Super League match between FC Goa and Chennaiyin, with 16,000 people in attendance. FC Goa and Chennaiyin are among the first football clubs from India with 100,000 followers on their main social media page. Both clubs are also among the first sports clubs from India with a value of $10 million.
